Yes and no! We offer airbrush spray tans from our automatic booths. We do not offer handheld spray tans. Our spray booths offer privacy and consistency every time. There are already, what seems like, a million steps that go into the spray tan process, we don't want to add human error to the mix. We have done our research and we still prefer a spray tan from a booth! Plus, a booth spray is usually half the price! 

Come showered, shaved and exfoliated without any lotion, oil, deodorant, perfume or makeup on. Anything on your skin will act as a barrier and not let your spray soak in evenly. *This also includes old spray tan or self tanner. They will also prevent even color development. 

We will take it from there! 

Make sure to get any manicures, pedicures, eyelash extensions or waxes done before your spray tan. Be prepared to clear your schedule during your 6-8 hours of development time.. Most clients don't like to be seen in public while they are developing due to the greasy look but also the chance of messing up their color. 

The actual booth only takes 3-5 minutes but getting undressed and ready as well as putting clothes back on after will take you a total of 10-15 minutes. 

The feeling of a spray tan is wet and sticky until it absorbs, which can take about an hour. We recommend wearing loose, dark clothing for your comfort. It will wash out of clothing and bedding! Putting tight clothing on after a spray tan can also affect how even your color develops. We recommend avoiding sports bras, leggings and jeans. 

After your spray, it takes anywhere from 6-8 hours for full color development. Your salon professional will recommend development time that is right for you. During development you will want to avoid sweating, rain, water of any kind, lotion, and makeup until after your first shower. Any liquid that touches your skin before you rinse will leave a mark until your spray tan fades. 

- We get the thought process, but leaving it on longer than our suggested development time does not make it darker or last longer. It can actually lead to LIGHTER color development, unevenness and that dreaded shade of orange. 

Here at KC Tan, we recommend leaving your spray tan on your hands for ONE HOUR before washing with soap and water 4-5 times. We have found that this is the perfect time to have your hands match the rest of your body! Yes, we understand 4-5 times sounds like a lot, but one wash isn't enough to get the solution to stop getting darker. 

Spray tans last anywhere from 4-10 days depending on how you take care of it. Moisturizing as much as possible will help it last longer as well as avoiding harsh exfoliating. Spray tans dry out your skin to the point where your skin wants to exfoliate naturally. Moisturizing twice a day will help make sure your spray tan lasts and fades evenly. Other things that affect the life of a spray tan include workouts, swimming, sand, hot tubs, excessive showering, excessive sweating, certain types of skincare products.
